My Mother, Myself

By Nancy Friday

Another one for the daughters of mothers lost and the husbands of those daughters. This book discusses why, as women, we operate the way we do and how our mothers shape us. It explores the emotional condition of women and how the initial bond between mother and daughter is the model for relationships throughout our lifetime. If you have lost your mother, this book provides great insight into that relationship and explains why we act the way we do, why we have patterns in relationships and how we can better understand ourselves through the lens of our relationship with our mother. I found this book to be eye opening and helped to redesign how I think about and develop relationship with others.
