If you are a current serving member or retired for whatever reason, this book may help you to understand why you swing so dramatically from hypervigilence at work to comatose at home and the damage that these hyper-aroused states over extended periods can do to your mental and physical health. It is a interesting insight. Whilst the model used is a simple one, I don’t entirely agree with its application for all police, but it is a worthwhile read. Page 28 in particular had me in stitches.
